Have you try to use the protocol in pidgin "Facebook (XMPP)" Instead of this one (that is becoming obsolete due to pidgin now provide its own) ?
ah nice with xmpp work. this obsolate package cob be remove from portage. it is trash

cornicx, why this bug was resolved? I've asked maintainer (Bernard) some time ago and he told me that "we do not "need" it anymore indeed (the pkg_setup log says so), but it still has additional features users like (notifications feed, and big profile pictures AFAIR). Also the developer told me he's working on a new version that uses XMPP and gets the additional infos old-style So as long as it does not hurt any users, we could keep it in tree?" I think it's worth to keep this bug opened until will be fixed or plugin will be dropped from the tree.
