Did you recently updated python to version 2.3 ? If this is true, Did you run /usr/portage/dev-lang/python/files/python-updater after upgrading ?
i didn't run it (yet). is this one of the numerous message you can see when you do an emerge (for python in this case) ? i'd like to have a task file to be created each time i do an emerge update which needs some manual operations. Sometimes i'm in front of my machine and between 2 emerge i can 'quickly) read needed stuff but sometimes i'm not...
Its ok, but thats another feature that you should report on another bug.
