Description William Throwe 2011-02-16 04:46:42 UTC
perl-cleaner --all says
 * The following files remain. These were either installed by hand
 * or edited. This script cannot deal with them.

/usr/lib32/perl5/5.12.2/i686-linux/auto/Fcntl/Fcntl.so
/usr/lib32/perl5/5.12.2/i686-linux/auto/Compress/Raw/Zlib/Zlib.so
... lots more

But these files are owned by app-emulation/emul-linux-x86-baselibs-20110129 .

I don't know if perl-cleaner should do anything with these files, but the message is clearly wrong.

Reproducible: Always

I have no solution for the problem right now.

You use dev-lang/perl-5.12.3 but the emul libs were built with perl-5.12.2 so the script thinks they are outdated. And of course perl-cleaner can't create a new emul-linux-x86-baselibs package.
Comment 2 Pacho Ramos gentoo-dev 2011-07-20 10:24:07 UTC
perl-cleaner should probably show the culprit package when available I think :-/
Comment 3 Pacho Ramos gentoo-dev 2012-05-16 10:03:10 UTC
Isn't there a way to let perl-cleaner skip checking some packages? (similar like allowed with revdep-rebuild)

Greetings,

While we understand the 'false positives' from the perl files installed by the current version of emul-linux-x86-baselibs, what about the ones that were leftover from previous versions of emul-linux-x86-baselibs?

As an example, this is the bottom of the leftover files list I get when I run 'perl-cleaner --all' on my main workstation that had an @world update last week:

...<snip>...
/usr/lib32/perl5/5.16.3/i686-linux/auto/Fcntl/Fcntl.so
/usr/lib64/perl5/5.12.4/x86_64-linux/Encode/ConfigLocal.pm
/usr/lib64/perl5/5.12.2/x86_64-linux/Encode/ConfigLocal.pm
/usr/lib64/perl5/5.8.8/x86_64-linux/Encode/ConfigLocal.pm
/usr/lib64/perl5/vendor_perl/5.16.3/XML/SAX/ParserDetails.ini
/usr/lib64/perl5/vendor_perl/5.12.4/XML/SAX/ParserDetails.ini
/usr/lib64/perl5/vendor_perl/5.12.2/XML/SAX/ParserDetails.ini
/usr/lib64/perl5/vendor_perl/5.8.8/XML/SAX/ParserDetails.ini

When the emul-linux-x86-baselibs package gets updated, can it check for and/or remove the legacy perl files that were installed from previous emul-linux-x86-baselibs packages, too? (e.g. the 5.12.4, 5.12.2 and 5.8.8 files above)

And as of this writing, I'm fairly certain these are orphaned files at this point:
