My world update was interrupted by a broken xsane compile. I do have two boxes running gentoo linux and both do have the same problem when trying to merge xsane. If /usr/bin/gimp-config is symlinked to gimptool-1.2, there is no problem, but with gimptool-1.3. There are no useflags about gimp integration, so I supose everybody using gimp-1.3 (or using ~x86 in general) must have this problem...
Okay, I managed to get xsane to compile now. It's a simple incompatibility with gimp-1.3's plugin interface. After doing the fix, I saw that plugin registration in gimp-1.3 has been commented in the xsane ebuild file. So I think know about the problem. I did not do anything with gimp-plugins or something like that before, so my changes are just correcting the compile problems reported by gcc. :-) I also have a gimp-1.3 only system, so I don't know if it also works on gimp-1.2 systems. Okay, I'll attach my patch and ebuild and you can have a look at it. :-)

I guess "graphics" would fit better. I never even touched this ebuild.
I have xsane 0.92 installed alongside gimp 2.x with no problems. Can you verify that this works for you currently with gimp 2.x and reopen this bug if it doesn't?
ill have to hook up my scanner to verify or not i think the problem i had is it compiled but doesnt show up in gimp2 for acquring having ot load xsane seperatly and then saving the image is whats needed i think tho its been to long ago i cc'd myself to this bug >_<
