Wireless driver rtl8192se & firmware version 2.6.0018.1013.2010 have been superseded by a newer version, (2.6.0019.1207.2010) Renaming & re-digesting the ebuilds to rtl8192se-2.6.0019.1207.2010 (and similar for firmware) works as expected. Reproducible: Always
Fixed in CVS.
net-wireless/rtl8192se-firmware 2.6.0019.1207.2010 installs the firmware in /lib/firmware/RTL8192SE and calls the 8192se firmware rtl8192sfw.bin. The driver in the 3.0.6 kernel expects the firmware to be in /lib/firmware/rtlwifi/ and the name of the file to be rtl8192sefw.bin (sEfw instead of just sfw). The latest driver package at http://www.realtek.com/downloads/downloadsView.aspx?Langid=1&PNid=48&PFid=48&Level=5&Conn=4&DownTypeID=3&GetDown=false&Downloads=true 92ce_se_de_linux_mac80211_0004.0816.2011.tar.gz has the firmware in the right directory and with the right name. Commenting on old bugs won't get you a sufficient amount of attention. The firmware from net-wireless/rtl8192se-firmware package is not usable with 3.x kernels, only with net-wireless/rtl8192se. Install sys-kernel/linux-firmware instead.
