I decided to give a stab at modifying the eclipse-sdk ebuild for the new
upstream version. Note: I'm not overly familiar with eclipse (in fact, I just
decided to start trying it out) so there may be something subtle wrong with the
ebuild that I didn't catch. Also, it has only really been tested on my system -
the motif support has not been tested, nor has the sparc / ppc support. I
figured if nothing else, this would give someone else out there a nice head start.

The files required (eclipse and eclipse.desktop) have not been changed from the
earlier ebuild (they seem to work just fine).

Reproducible: Always

Ebuild for eclipse 3.0M5
Comment 2 Karl Trygve Kalleberg (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2003-12-11 11:02:56 UTC
Added this ebuild to the tree for testing. I'll have to do some serious rewriting to get 2.x and 3.x to coexist, but I'll get to that later. Thanks a lot for your work.

Seems to work fine excet for one thing, the ebuild depends on kde-base/kde if the kde USE flag is set. This will force users to install all kde packages when upgrading with emerge -uD world.
It might be better to let this ebuild depend on kde-base/kdebase and/or kde-base-kdelibs
