Ekiga run normaly, but H.264 codec is missing in video codec list. it seems that this is a compatibility issue opal and ekiga. See attached debug. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. emerge ekiga 2. run from console (to see debug output) ekiga -d 5 2 3. This may be cause by bug 305803, but I'm unsure. Fixing that bug requires too many backports so it's better to bump to the most recent release...
I don't think these are the same thing. I see this problem with ekiga failing to load the x264 library with opal-3.6.8-r2 in the tree, but also with opal-3.6.8-r3 as patched in the solution to that bug.
ok, I take it back. I had compiled opal without the x264-static flag. When the x264-static flag is added to opal, the in-tree 3.6.8-r2 does fail to compile, but 3.6.8-r3 in that bug solution solution does compile, and then ekiga loads the 264 plugin successfully. So perhaps the solution to this bug should be to add a check to ekiga's ebuild - if x264 is enabled, it should check that opal was compiled with x264-static.
H264 works upstream. You should depend on libavcodec-dev (with H264 decoder) and libx264.
should be solved in 4.x, please retry with that
