Description Tom Lloyd 2011-02-05 18:37:51 UTC
dev-lang/php-5.3.5 fails to compile, upgrading from dev-lang/php-5.2.12, on a uClibc PPC system (Efika board). Merging with USE="-fileinfo -suhosin" because Portage complains otherwise. (Will file separate bugs if these flags still need disabling after the upgrade.)

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. # USE="-fileinfo -suhosin" pump emerge -1vt php
2. Wait
3. Fail

Actual Results:
<snip>
ext/standard/php_crypt_r.o: In function `_crypt_extended_init_r':
php_crypt_r.c:(.text+0x130): undefined reference to `membar_producer'
php_crypt_r.c:(.text+0x140): undefined reference to `atomic_add_int'

Please attach the entire build log.

build.log

build.log attached, but be warned it's half a megabyte!
Comment 3 Wormo (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2011-02-13 03:06:18 UTC
Those symbols come from glibc, and there doesn't seem to be a version of uclibc that includes these memory barrier/atomic funcs. I think you're going to have to disable any php modules that use them; try -crypt for starters.
Comment 4 Tom Lloyd 2011-02-15 17:03:10 UTC
I just tried it with USE="-crypt"; no dice. Would it be useful to attach the new build log? It looks roughly the same, and it still fails with the same errors I posted in the original description.

Quoting the attachment form:
"File:	Enter the path to the file on your computer (500Kb limit for patches, 1000Kb for other files)."

If next time you find an attachment is over that limit, compress it.
Comment 6 Ole Markus With (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2011-04-23 16:22:40 UTC
Sorry, but I doubt it is possible to get around this issue. It is a part of the PHP core.
