Description Sam Bashton 2002-06-09 04:04:07 UTC
The untested (and in my experience broken) Exim 4.04 seems to have been
accidentally unmasked. The entry =net-mail/exim-4.04 has been added, but as
exim-4.04r1 is now there, portage tries to install this version.

Perhaps you'd like to tell us why it's broken! I'm using those exim-4 on 2
machines and it works great! Have you tested it?

Any other developers using exim??
Can anyone else comment on this ebuild?
Comment 3 Bengt Gorden 2002-06-16 23:10:11 UTC
I have tried to emerge exim with exim 4. It says "need logger". I do have a
logger installed but it doesn't recognize it. I tried to emerge the old exim
(3.36) but it still complains about logger in the init script.

Lamer: is 4.04-r1 supposed to be masked? 4.04 is
Comment 5 Ben Lutgens (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2002-06-23 10:08:51 UTC
"logger" is provided by the correctly packaged log daemons. The problem you're
seeing is related to your chosen syslog package. try updating your log daemon
package. Yes it's supposed to be unmasked. This bug is irrelevant. The person
who claims exim-4 is broken is wrong.
