Trying to install the PECL module 'dbase' by:

If it's a bug, it's phpize design bug.
You shouldn't use pecl, instead using existing ebuilds as a template,
create an ebuild for that module in your overlay (as it seems it's not in the tree).
First of all, pecl bypasses PMS (usually portage), second
- phpize doesn't handle libtool 2 correctly.

I have no clue on how to port another pecl ebuild over to work with dbase.  Thank you for the advice!

I retract that last statement: created an overlay (per the wiki), copied the pecl-dio ebuild over and slightly modified the ebuild (again following the 'writing ebuilds' wiki).

Works like a charm, THANK YOU SIR!  Changing this to invalid since it is not really a bug.
