Hi guys, My configuration is a nforce2 box, running the default nvidia geforce4_mx (nv18) video running 2.6.0-test11-gentoo-r1. I emerged nvidia-kernel-1.0.4496-r3, and nvidia-glx-1.0.4496. Everything works, I ran glxgears, no problem but the fps is very low for what I would have expected, I can run all the GL screensavers and various other things. In looking at my kernel.log however, in a period of 20 minutes this was printed out to for the total of 3.3MBs worth: Badness in pci_find_subsys at drivers/pci/search.c:132 Call Trace: [<c0220115>] pci_find_subsys+0xe5/0xf0 [<c022014f>] pci_find_device+0x2f/0x40 [<c0220008>] pci_find_slot+0x28/0x50 [<deb100ea>] os_pci_init_handle+0x3a/0x67 [nvidia] [<deb229af>] __nvsym00057+0x1f/0x24 [nvidia] [<debf6c6b>] __nvsym04236+0x1f/0x24 [nvidia] [<debcefad>] __nvsym03984+0x215/0x1d88 [nvidia] [<deb505e4>] __nvsym01575+0x28/0x34 [nvidia] [<deb31879>] __nvsym01540+0x49/0x90 [nvidia] [<deb506ab>] __nvsym01480+0x2b/0x34 [nvidia] [<deb317fa>] __nvsym01580+0x3a/0x70 [nvidia] [<deb317fa>] __nvsym01580+0x3a/0x70 [nvidia] [<deb505e4>] __nvsym01575+0x28/0x34 [nvidia] [<deb31879>] __nvsym01540+0x49/0x90 [nvidia] [<deb506ab>] __nvsym01480+0x2b/0x34 [nvidia] [<deb311a4>] __nvsym01583+0x58/0x68 [nvidia] [<c0116c80>] recalc_task_prio+0x90/0x1a0 [<c0117d01>] __wake_up_common+0x31/0x50 [<c0116c80>] recalc_task_prio+0x90/0x1a0 [<debd20ec>] __nvsym03993+0x15cc/0x15d8 [nvidia] [<debcece6>] __nvsym03986+0x21a/0x2cc [nvidia] [<debd47ad>] __nvsym04031+0xc5/0x418 [nvidia] [<debd46a0>] __nvsym04015+0x68/0xb0 [nvidia] [<debc9e6d>] __nvsym00610+0x85/0x954 [nvidia] [<c03163fe>] sock_aio_read+0xce/0xe0 [<c014fb89>] do_sync_read+0x89/0xc0 [<debf98ba>] __nvsym00688+0x16a/0x338 [nvidia] [<deb250b9>] __nvsym00827+0xd/0x1c [nvidia] [<deb26754>] rm_isr_bh+0xc/0x10 [nvidia] [<c011f566>] tasklet_action+0x46/0x70 [<c011f379>] do_softirq+0x99/0xa0 [<c010b1d7>] do_IRQ+0x117/0x160 [<c0109628>] common_interrupt+0x18/0x20 Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. emerge nvidia-kernel 2. emerge nvidia-glx 3. launch X Actual Results: the above errrors/warnings are generated. try this one, as it is "r2" of nvidia kernel nvidia-glx-1.0.4496-r1.ebuild nvidia-kernel-1.0.4496-r4.ebuild
fixed in 2.6.0 afaik. no occurance of this happening here.
The new nvidia-kernel package still causes these problems in 2.6.0 and possibly 2.6.1 as detailed here --> http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=36883
