Since latest update of polkit-0.99-r1 with the use flag KDE, my KDE session doesn't start as usual. I had to rebuild polkit-0.99-r1 without the kde use flag to get back on track. I'm using KDE 4.5.5 on my testing box. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.compile polkit-0.99-r1 with use flag kde 2. 3. Actual Results: Hang on KDE startup and my desktop become black. Expected Results: Usual boot screen and a nice desktop at the end. I don't have the problem with polkit-0.99 version and I resolved my problem with disabling the kde use flag only for polkit : sys-auth/polkit -kde Maybe that package will work with KDE 4.6.0, but with the latest version of KDE inside the testing tree, it's not working properly.
USE="kde" doesn't do anything else but install polkit-kde or polkit-kde-agent for you. The installed files are exactly same.
Wait a minute, it's not that simple :P Can you explain to me what is the diff between 0.99 and 0.99-r1 inside the source then, because I really have a hang with that specific version. Also, can you explain why if I compile without kde use, the lag is gone forever. Weird in fact.
Your Steps to Reproduce are incomplete. How does KDE start up? What is that boot screen? You mean KDM? Please review the bug reporting guidelines for more information about the requirements. Seeing as you have a @gentoo.org address, I suspect you additionally have the privilege to assign bug reports. If that is the case I suggest you do that too.
I'm using KDE 4.5.5 with KDM with the default settings. If I mask the version 0.99-r1 or I compile without the kde use flag for polkit, my problem is gone. Is there any log that can help you ssuominen on this one ?
I updated my box tonight 20101-01-25 and it's gone. I now use the latest polkit with the kde use flag. So, since it's an unknown bug, I close this one. I cannot reproduce that one now on my box.
