dev-python/visual needs the Polygon python package. The dependency is commented out in visual-5.4.ebuild, and unfortunately, no ebuild for Polygon exists. visual-5.4.ebuild has the following two RDEPENDs commented out which INSTALL.txt calls for: # dev-python/polygon # >=dev-python/ttfquery-1.0.4 While there is no ebuild for Polygon in the tree, there is one for ttfquery. Furthermore, INSTALL.txt indicates Visual should depend on dev-python/fonttools, which is also in the tree.
There is an ebuild for dev-python/polygon in the overlay at http://www.mavrinac.com/index.cgi?page=gentoo I changed the version number to polygon-2.0.4 (the newest version for Python 2) and emerged it. emerging ttfquery pulled in fonttools -- now visual is working
