http://www.linuxcult.com/forum/showthread.php?s=6e51376e637e9ca40b7996109a7fbb56&threadid=2009 In a nutshell, it's a python script that takes the Crystal SVG theme for kde and will convert the entire thing over to a gnome theme. Works well, looks excellent. Text follows: "11/28/03 - 2:22 PM Eastern USA ---------------------------------------- Crystal SVG for Gnome Beta 2 has been released. 11/28/03 - 11:49 AM Eastern USA ------------------------------------------ I updated the screenshot, just click it and refresh/reload the page to see the latest version which will be released later today. Updated information. [Description] This is the new thread for the Crystal SVG for Gnome project, which is basically self-explanitory. The old thread was getting overfilled with junk files and such. I have taken over the leadership of the project's development from tehmiller, who cannot work on the theme due to time contraints. There are quite a few people working on this, most notably Chroma and panic_69 (Infernux) whom you will probably see in here. Starting with a fresh thread seems appropriate, rather than using tehmiller's. [Releases] All releases will be posted here, with a link to the correct post below. If you feel brave and wish to try out some of the development targets.xml files as they are posted, you may do so, but don't expect them to be perfect. If you want to help out, but not mess up your icon theme, just download the current release and give us feedback on this thread about which icons are wrong, which icons should be changed to better icons, which icons are missing, etc. [Screenshot] http://www.amateurastronomycentral.info/crystalgnome.jpg [Latest Release] http://www.linuxcult.com/forum/show...15733#post15733 [Instructions] Download the latest crystal icon set from here: http://linuxcult.com/crystal/icons/crystal.tar.gz Extract the archive to your ~/.icons folder. Download the latest release of Crystal for Gnome (above), and extract it into ~/.icons/crystal Open a terminal window and "cd" to your ~/.icons/crystal directory. (Help on console commands can be found here: http://www.linuxcult.com/index.php?m=show&id=43) Make sure you have python installed (v2.2), then run misgnomer.py in the terminal window: ./misngnomer.py Misgnomer will then prompt for conversion method, symlink or copy. We suggest using copy (type in: copy and press Enter) in case you move the folder, thus not breaking any links. Do not close the terminal window yet. Now go to Applications > Desktop Preferences > Theme. Click on Theme Details, then the Icons tab and select Crystal SVG 1.0 Beta 2. Click Close, then Close again. Now type in your terminal window: killall -9 gnome-panel That will restart the gnome-panel so it has the crystal icons for everything that is currently themed. [Misgnomer] For misgnomer development, questions, and instructions on using it for other icon sets, please visit this thread: http://www.linuxcult.com/forum/show...=&threadid=2024 " Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3.
i dunno, it doesn't seem very useful, more like something a user downloads and plays with once and forgets about it ..
I don't see much use for this either. I'm closing this until I see more demand for it.
The Crystal SVG for GNOME is a GNOME icon set, not a set of scripts. I Exdaix, (the current creator/updater of the icon set) use a program called misgnomer, which converts the icons, which I then bzip and release at www.crystalgnome.org. I have also recently released a Kids for GNOME iconset, which can also be found at crystalgnome.org. If you want to put the conversion program (misgnomer) into portage, that would make more sense. Although misgnomer runs easier if in your home directory, so putting it into portage may not be necissary. Here is the thread where all releases of misgnoemr are put. (Latest release is on the last page usually.): http://www.linuxcult.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=2024 misgnomer is written by Chromakode, a member of the Crystal for Gnome project (www.crystalgnome.org)
