Description onox 2011-01-20 14:31:13 UTC
I use Awn (avant-window-navigator) and since I'm not one of those silly ubuntu users who want to turn their linux machine into something that looks like a Mac I don't need/want gnome-panel.

I can rip gnome-panel out of RDEPEND in gnome-utils' ebuild (2.29.5 and 2.32.0-r1) and gnome-utils installs fine. I guess the only change is that you don't get some applet. A USE keyword could be used to optionally depend on gnome-panel.

Reproducible: Always

I don't see how configure could succeed for you as it checks for gnome-panel presence :-/

Well, apparently it does succeed :)

+ 04 Feb 2011; Pacho Ramos <pacho@gentoo.org> gnome-utils-2.32.0-r1.ebuild:
+ gnome-panel dep is only required for gdict-applet (behind 'bonobo' USE flag).
+ Thanks to onox in bug 352241.
