Description Delan Azabani 2011-01-20 11:08:21 UTC
Latest update for xf86-video-openchrome (pulled in by xorg-drivers-1.10 even though I only need nouveau) doesn't compile. The previous version I have installed, 0.2.904_p891, compiles fine.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. `emerge -DavuN world` or `emerge xf86-video-openchrome`
Actual Results:
compile failure

Expected Results:
normal install

Comment 1 Peter Volkov (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2011-01-21 22:24:25 UTC
Just encountered same error. Reason is:

/usr/lib/gcc/x86_64-pc-linux-gnu/4.5.2/../../../../x86_64-pc-linux-gnu/bin/ld:
i386 architecture of input file `.libs/via_3d.o' is incompatible with
i386:x86-64 output

Actually tarball contains src/via_3d.lo and src/.libs/via_3d.o that cause this error.

Does 0.2.904_p906 work for you?
Comment 3 Delan Azabani 2011-01-22 23:46:09 UTC
Yes, it installs perfectly.
Comment 4 Mattias 2011-01-23 17:18:41 UTC
_p906 solved it for me as well (on an actual via system)
Delan, shouldn't you consider setting VIDEO_CARDS="nouveau" in your make.conf, in order not to install drivers for every card on the market? Nice of you to file this bug though, it sure helped me.
Comment 5 Jeroen Roovers (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2011-01-24 19:31:16 UTC
I was apparently shipping the binaries that had somehow got built (I think through some automation by the autogen script, perhaps) and which were obviously local to the architecture I used then. I checked out a fresh copy of the upstream repo and shipped that now - with eautoreconf running in the src_prepare() phase, something that /didn't/ use to work for me, and that's how _p906 now properly works. Thanks for the report and for testing.
