Description Fabio C. 2011-01-20 09:41:33 UTC
Switch KVM with USB freeze Live and Installed Kernel on Booting.
I used this switch under Windows XP and never getted a problem, all starting is goes fine. This switch permit me to share a VGA Monitor and a USB Hub to 2 Computers.

The problem is when I've installed Gentoo on one of two computers.
During boot (the live too) freeze after some seconds. Only way to fix this problem is use noapic and acpi=off like options in the Grub OR unplugging the USB under linux pc during the Boot.

I think this is a BUG of linux becouse other PC with Win 7 x64 work fine and the same pc with linux when i used Windows XP never getted a problem.

I linked a screenshot when system freeze.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Attach USB of KVM
2. Enable ACPI in kernel

Actual Results:
Freeze

1) Please paste your `emerge --info' output in a comment.
2) Attach the kernel .config as a file.
3) Tell us about the make and model KVM switch, and what is connected to the KVM switch on the console side.
X) Lacking that, at the least tell us which Gentoo boot image you used.

5) Attach any relevant information to the bug report and don't rely on external resources for that purpose.

We do not accept external resources that partly describe bugs in reports since we cannot indefinitely ensure their presence, rendering bug reports incomplete over time. Please paste information in comments and attach files and do not point to external URIs.

Can you please test with 2.6.37-gentoo-sources please.
Comment 9 Fabio C. 2011-02-02 15:36:49 UTC
Exactly same problem with 2.6.37 gentoo-source :(

Test with 2.6.38, and then please take this upstream to bugzilla.kernel.org if it fails.
