I am trying to install Gentoo Linux on a system with an AMI megaraid controller, but unfortunately the ISO image does not contain a drive for that hardware (neither builtin to the kernel nor as a module). Would it be possible to add that driver to the modules (/lib/modules/2.4.19/kernel/drivers/...). Alternatively, is there a way to either build your own kernel and use that on the ISO image (before burning it) or adding more modules?
It looks like release 1.2 has fixed that problem. It just so happens that it wasn't officially released when I created the bug report.
Created attachment 11684 [details] Comment on the bug Comment on this bug: I just have installet on a dell poweredge server with a hardware raid5 controller using the megaraid module, Afeter 2 days of problems i found out that the drivers doest support this controller when its loaded as a module, So i had to insert a scsi disk to the scsi controller and install a system with a kernel where the drivers is staticly buildt into the kernel, then boot on that one and start the installer. What about including this driver into the kernel on the next relase? i have 2 more of these boxses to install to, so i have a to go to the problems again. Now i have a scsi install drive ;) -Torgrim
this was 1.4rc2/3 btw ;)
Moving these so we can remove the "Install CD" component from "Gentoo Linux". I apologize to everyone for this spam, but according to the bugzilla developers, this is the only reasonable way to do this.
