Description Greg Lindauer 2011-01-11 15:14:26 UTC
I'm a newbie, and after getting to "For example, as root, run echo XSESSION="Xfce4" > /etc/env.d/90xsession. This will create the 90xsession file and set the default X session to Xfce" I was unexpectedly greeted with a blank screen when I got to the next section and ran startX. Then I realized "Duh! I forgot env-update && source /etc/profile". Mentioning this would have helped me. Of course, at some point all these reminders have to stop or your (great) documentation gets hopefessly bogged down (for instance, if you mention that, would you also want to remind me to emerge xfce, and link to the xfce howto).

Reproducible: Always

There's already a link to the Xfce guide in that very section!

Normally I'd agree with you about not stuffing useless duplicate reminders into our guides, but in this case I'll make an exception, since the section on editing 90xsession is followed immediately by startx.

Fixed in CVS.
