Description Geoff Madden 2011-01-11 08:32:05 UTC
root a/c was created as per normal, but when trying to create user the system appears to stop responding

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.add user
2.set passwd
3.user logs in successfully, but menu operations are slow, setup pers data almost impossible, have to minimise/reassert application to make changes appear.

Actual Results:
when typing in configurations the screen is not updated till app is minimised/reasserted.

Expected Results:
normal operations.

If it's of any use the root acc is perfectly ok.

Looks a bit like an X problem / maybe permissions. What groups are your users in?

The groups are the normal wheel, audio, portage, adm, cdrom from memory + a couple of others that became necessary. BUT since the upgrade to 4.6 everything has returned to normal operations,I can't say what was actually creating the problem as the updates to 4.6 became available on our repositories,& I installed as soon as they were available. I did look at the Xorg.0 log and the .xsessionerrors but neither was of much help as they didn't appear to log the errors.
For now all is ok with 4.6
Thanks for the reply Geoff
