I was just poking around and thought I'd update some eclass docs for perl-experimental, ( bug #259815 ).

It would be awfully nice if there was a tool ( ie: a scriptified and /usr/bin/ ifised eclass-to-manpage.awk from app-portage/eclass-manpages ) that made working out what the results of your edits had done.

ie: error checking your eclasses, viewing how they look when manified, etc.

man-eclass ./perl-module.class # giving me a manpage viewer would be nice for example

man-eclass --check-only ./perl-module.eclass # give me some errors.

and then app-portage/eclass-manpages can depend on whatever that tool is instead of this magical script that hides in $FILES . =)

man-eclass -o perl-module.class.1 ./perl-module.eclass # generating a man page output

These are all just examples of things I'd like to see, but use your own discretion =)

app-doc/eclass-manpages installs the tool as /usr/bin/eclass-to-manpage.awk which I guess is what was requested here?
