Comment 1 Thomas Capricelli 2011-01-07 03:37:27 UTC
i did some investigations. The state of fg under gentoo seems....light.
Current version of openscengraph in 2.8.3, but according to people on the official flightgear irc channel, fg-2.0.0 requires at least 2.9.6. They even say that no more recent version should be used. And indeed, I've tried the openscenegraph 2.9.8 from 'gamerlay' but flightgear would not compile against it.

Also, there's something weird. I happen not to have the 'glut' USE flag. Openscenegraph hence compiled with -glut. Flightgear compiled fine (and crashes, as stated). But those guys say that glut is a mandatory requirement for flightgear.. so i kind suspect that fg 2.0.0 should depend on =dev-games/openscenegraph-2.9.6[glut]

I'm now trying the live version (still from gamerlay) of those. It seems that flightgear is to have a new release soon, so i hope to have this relatively stable.

my two cents..

Please try 2.4.0
Comment 3 Maciej Mrozowski gentoo-dev 2011-12-18 01:46:34 UTC
Just a note. I had this crash with 2.0.0 as well and with 2.4.0 it's gone. I'm going to close this bug. Please reopen if the crash appears in 2.4.0.
Comment 4 Thomas Capricelli 2011-12-19 14:56:21 UTC
i'm now using the live ebuild anyway. I'll re-open (with more information) if i happen to experience this again, but i doubt. Thanks for caring.
