Description Peter Budny 2011-01-02 17:38:30 UTC
Distcc still has problems with avahi+ipv6 (it doesn't parse IPv6 addresses correctly at all). distcc with USE="-ipv6" ought to not enable any IPv6 functionality, but distcc still reports the machine's IPv6 address to avahi. This means setting distcc hosts to "+zeroconf" doesn't work, because it will complain about broken addresses/port numbers.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. USE="avahi ipv6" emerge distcc
2. /etc/init.d/avahi-daemon start
3. /etc/init.d/distcc start
Actual Results:
"avahi-browse -a" will show an entry like "eth0 IPv6 distcc@thishost", which would not be there if IPv6 were correctly disabled.

Expected Results:
Distcc should not use any IPv6 if the ipv6 USE flag is off.

1) Please paste your `emerge --info' output in a comment.
1) Please paste your `emerge -vpq sys-devel/distcc' output in a comment.

Note that in my original description, it should have said 'USE="avahi -ipv6" emerge sys-devel/distcc'. I missed the minus in front of ipv6.

Could you retry with 3.3.2? The ipv6 flag doesn't really control IPv6 support but using newer resolver functions that can handle IPv6. I was actually wondering about removing it altogether as possibly misleading.
