I'm not sure when it happened, but it seems that we don't use /dev/cdrom anymore. Maybe a symlink could be made, but the device is /dev/sr0, that's what I find people talking about when I research it, and most tools seem to know to look for /dev/sr0, such as k3b. Therefore, I think that it's a bug in "eject" that it gives me an error about there being no "/dev/cdrom" when I type "eject". It too should also look for things like /dev/sr0. Reproducible: Always
What version of udev do you have installed? Do you have a file called /etc/udev/rules.d/70-persistent-cd.rules? If so, try removing it and rebooting your computer to have udev regenerate it.
