You can find the discussion here.  I have a hand patched 2.6.35-r10 which works with this patch.  Without the patch PMPs are unusable with this kernel.  2.6.36 boots but is generally unstable crashing regularly on my hardware within a day or so.

Seems like you've been at this for awhile.  Please post this upstream at http://bugzilla.kernel.org and see what the upstream developers say.

2.6.37 fixed the pmp issues, now I'm dealing with weird lock ups that appear to be related to Cstates, but have switched to intel-idle driver from acpi so hopefully these will go away now.  Thanks.
