When emerging sys-devel/gcc, the process freezes on:

mv tmp-libgcc.mvars libgcc.mvars

Here are my use flags:

[ebuild     U ] sys-devel/gcc-4.4.4-r2 [4.4.3-r2] USE="fortran mudflap (multilib) nptl openmp (-altivec) -bootstrap -build -doc (-fixed-point) -gcj -graphite -gtk (-hardened) (-libffi) -multislot (-n32) (-n64) -nls -nocxx -nopie% -nossp% -objc -objc++ -objc-gc -test -vanilla" 0 kB


Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
emerge -u sys-devel/gcc

Actual Results:  
emerge freezes

Expected Results:  
successfully update gcc

We need more information to process this bug. Please paste your "emerge --info" output and attach the full build.log of the failure. I resolve this as NEEDINFO. Reopen only if you have submitted more information.

Give it a try with MAKEOPTS="-j1". Assigning to toolchain@ who will know better how to coordinate you. This is bizarre.

emerging with 

sudo MAKEOPTS="-j1" emerge sys-devel/gcc -uv

did the trick.  thank you.  if this remains an issue, let me know if i can provide any additional information.
