According to "Baselayout and OpenRC Migration Guide", in baselayout-2, "/etc/modules.autoload.d/kernel-2.*" has been migrated to "/etc/conf.d/modules". I thought most of us adopted the "~x86" or "~amd64" accept flag, right? Thus in handbook I suggest adding a tip for anyone who wanna use the testing version of packages to modify the accept flag and then "emerge -1au baselayout", to avoid wandering about why some modules have not been mounted with special options, causing the device failed to start. Also, I think make an advanced handbook for someone (like me) who like edge-cutting is essential, since after I read the "Gentoo GCC Upgrade Guide", I found I cannot afford to revbuild my gnome-ready system anymore because it'll occupy me another 10 hours... PS. I don't find any sense about manually extract a portage snapshot... why don't update it automatically with just "emerge --sync"?
No. The handbook covers stable packages only. We won't be adding in baselayout-2/OpenRC instructions until those packages are stabilized and included in the stage tarballs.
