XULrunner cannot build because it claims to be unable to find a header belonging to the fontconfig package. As a result, Firefox 3.6.13 cannot be built. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. emerge --sync 2. emerge xulrunner Actual Results: Stops at econf stage: configure: error: Can't find header fontconfig/fcfreetype.h. Expected Results: Should build without an issue. I have fontconfig installed and the header mentioned that supposedly cannot be found is in /usr/include/fontconfig/fcfreetype.h.
can you post emerge --info and the build log

have you tried to reinstall fontconfig?
(In reply to comment #4) > have you tried to reinstall fontconfig? > Hmm, that uncovers another problem. fontconfig fails to build; gets to compile stage and has a lot of 'excess elements in struct initializer'.

you should probably open a separate bug for fontconfig
I fixed the build problem with fontconfig. It has to do with having installed MinGW cross-compiler, which adds a SYSROOT line to root ~/.bashrc. I commented out that line and `source ~/.bashrc` and fontconfig can now compile like normal. This bug had the information: http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=323351 However, I still cannot emerge xulrunner and it stops at the same point not finding the header which does exist. I am assuming that in this check /usr/include (or include path specified in the mozconfig file) is being prepended. /usr/include/fontconfig/fcfreetype.h
I have a filed a similar bug about Wine and the USE flag truetype. https://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=348868

It seems there is something wrong with your installation of freetype The build.log reported: checking for freetype-config... /usr/bin/freetype-config checking for FreeType - version >= 6.1.0... no *** The FreeType test program failed to run. If your system uses *** shared libraries and they are installed outside the normal *** system library path, make sure the variable LD_LIBRARY_PATH *** (or whatever is appropiate for your system) is correctly set. According to the config.log: configure:22905: x86_64-pc-linux-gnu-gcc -E -I/usr/include -I/usr/include conftest.c >/dev/null 2>conftest.out In file included from /usr/include/fontconfig/fcfreetype.h:27, from configure:22901: /usr/include/ft2build.h:56:38: error: freetype/config/ftheader.h: No such file or directory the configure fails because gcc misses /usr/include/freetype2 in the include path, so programs including fcfreetype.h which includes ft2build.h, which fails at including ftheader.h You can check what is installed using: emerge -pqv media-libs/freetype:2 freetype-config --ftversion --cflags
# freetype-config --ftversion --cflags 2.4.3 -I/usr/include/freetype2
Is it a good idea to manually add /usr/include/freetype2 to GCC's default paths? If so, how?
Seems crossdev with installing Mingw seemed to have messed up include paths for the system GCC. I have removed the installation of Mingw and everything compiled. This is being written on the newly compiled Firefox.
Is there anything I can run to ensure my include paths are overall okay?
