There is a libslab directory in the build of gnome-control-center-2.32.1. The ebuild fails every time with the error: "/usr/lib/gcc/i686-pc-linux-gnu/4.5.1/../../../../i686-pc-linux-gnu/bin/ld: cannot find -lslab". Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.emerge gmone-control-center-2.32.1 Also tested with MAKEOPTS="-j1" and ccache -C. Recompilied tool chain and all the packages given by equery g gnome-control-center. I also tested earlier ebuilds in the tree and at least on my system they all failed with the same error Actual Results: Finally I installed the source for libslab-2.30 manually into /usr/local (there is no ebuild in the tree...). then gnome-control-center compiled and installed properly.

If you really don't have libslab installed, just what is it finding ? Attach config.log from the failed build.
That seems to be the problem. The build log says that libslab is installed when it isn't. No trace of libslab was present when the posted build log was generated.
Please mark this bug closed. I found an old 2009 package config file while removing libslab* (to get another config.log). For the first time in months gnome-control-center compiled and installed. Sorry for the denseness. I just couldn't figure out why everything else in ~x86 compiled fine and control-center wouldn't.
