Description Jordan 2010-12-14 20:20:44 UTC
After I start playing a video with gnome-mplayer it crashes and prints this message to the terminal (when I run through terminal):
>(gnome-mplayer:26944): GLib-CRITICAL **: g_ascii_strncasecmp: assertion `s1 != NULL' failed
I tried unmasking and compiling dev-libs/glib-2.24.2 and rebooting, thinking that it was a problem in glib that was fixed. The problem still occurs. This issue also occurs with media-video/gnome-mplayer-0.9.9.2 but no text is printed to the terminal

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. play video with gnome-mplayer
2. gnome-mplayer crashes

A proper backtrace would be needed:
http://www.gentoo.org/proj/en/qa/backtraces.xml
Comment 3 Jordan 2010-12-15 03:12:55 UTC
I compiled gnome-mplayer with the -ggdb compile flag and repeated the crash. But when I run gnome-mplayer I can't get a backtrace since gnome-mplayer don't close. It stays in a locked state.
Comment 4 Jordan 2010-12-15 15:59:27 UTC
I've discovered that gnome-mplayer locks up only when the sound is muted.
Comment 5 Samuli Suominen (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2011-04-22 11:28:51 UTC
1. Try gnome-mplayer-1.0.3 instead.
2. If 1. doesn't work, report this here:

http://code.google.com/p/gnome-mplayer/issues/list

3. Provide a link to the upstream bug at the URL field.

Thanks.
Comment 6 Jordan 2011-04-22 13:11:53 UTC
I had completely forgotten about this bug report. gnome-mplayer-1.0.3 works fine.
Comment 7 Samuli Suominen (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2011-04-22 13:39:06 UTC
good, no more to do here then
