This should be fixed upstream and is already fixed there in CVS. For details see

http://bugzilla.maptools.org/show_bug.cgi?id=2001

Should the fix be backported or are things fine in this case?
Comment 3 Jeroen Roovers (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2010-12-05 21:01:42 UTC
[33;01m*[0m Please do not file a Gentoo bug and instead report the above QA
[33;01m*[0m issues directly to the upstream developers of this software.

Comment 4 David J Cozatt 2010-12-08 02:20:10 UTC
The link when followed yields from http://www.remotesensing.org/libtiff/bugs.html

"If you think you've discovered a bug, please first check to see if it is already known by looking at the list of already reported bugs. You can do so by visiting the buglist at http://bugzilla.maptools.org/buglist.cgi?product=libtiff. Also verify that the problem is still reproducable with the current development software from CVS."

Not enough I've already learned to patch and some git now I have to learn to use CVS before the bug is acceptable.
