If I add ~amd64 to the ebuild and use
cd {$S}; libtoolize -c -f
after elibtoolize in the ebuild it compiles fine.

Perhaps elibtoolize should do this itself though?

~amd64 added to 5.5.7.15, which didn't need the extra libtoolize.
