Description Marcin Mirosław 2010-11-30 20:36:33 UTC
I have no idea what should be in summary:( Problem with this kernel looks in this way:
- for example, i'm emerging nginx, and i'm getting:
>>> Install nginx-0.8.53 into /var/tmp/portage/www-servers/nginx-0.8.53/image/ category www-servers
install: setting permissions for `/var/tmp/portage/www-servers/nginx-0.8.53/image//usr/sbin/nginx': No such file or directory
dosbin failed
install: setting permissions for `/var/tmp/portage/www-servers/nginx-0.8.53/image//etc/init.d/nginx': No such file or directory
doexe failed
install: setting permissions for `/var/tmp/portage/www-servers/nginx-0.8.53/image//etc/nginx/fastcgi.conf': No such file or directory
!!! doins: conf/fastcgi.conf does not exist

There is no image/ dir.
Next example:
./configure from ccache-3.1.3 throws:
./configure
configure: Configuring ccache
checking for gcc... gcc
checking whether the C compiler works... yes
checking for C compiler default output file name... a.out
checking for suffix of executables...

./install-sh -c
checking for ranlib... ranlib

There is no conftest.dir.
I don't know what is going on and what system functions are broken. After downgrade to hardened-sources-2.6.36-r2 everything works correctly.

Reproducible: Always

kernel config

I used gcc-4.5.1 to compile kernel. Now i'm testing gcc-4.4.5.
Comment 2 Anthony Basile gentoo-dev 2010-11-30 20:47:34 UTC
Thanks for reporting. We caught the problem early and removed the ebuild from the tree.

Please fall back on 2.6.36-r2 for now.
Comment 3 Marcin Mirosław 2010-11-30 20:59:09 UTC
Would be "hard mask" better option? User would have information about problem.
If you only removed ebuild, users which had emerged this kernel into system, will not get information that something is wrong with this kernel.
Comment 4 Andreas Westin 2010-11-30 22:08:20 UTC
Latest grsecurity patch fixes the problem, grsecurity-2.2.1-2.6.36.1-201011280939.patch.
