Description Erik 2010-11-30 11:45:40 UTC
The source package if net-misc/wicd-1.7.0 (wicd-1.7.0.tar.bz2) does not contain the sources of translations. There are only binary mo-files, which are useless for modification. Debian already noticed the problem (which they consider severe) and fixed it with a new version of their package.

(The reason that I noticed this problem is that I found a wrong word in a translation. It needs to be fixed. I checked out lp:wicd but found no translations at all there.)

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:

Expected Results:
The source package used by the Gentoo package contains the sources of the translations. The Gentoo package is able to apply patches to fix errors during the build process. The binary files are then generated from the sources.

I'm not going to repackage the source tarball. You will have to convince upstream to modify their delivery process.

assigning to new maintainer.

Confirmed, but there is nothing we can do here (except repackaging...). Please contact upstream.
