Licq ebuild use the "--enable-socks" option for configure, but it does not handle the correct RDEPEND (a lib not included in portage). The configure does not exit with an error if libs are missing, it just disable socks support. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. DO NOT install dante 2. USE="socks" emerge licq Actual Results: Licq compiled without socks. It's necessary to do the ebuild to include necessary libraries. Unfortunately, licq IS NOT dante compliant, and the compilation fails if dante is installed. I was not able to patch/do the nec socks ebuid because the nec download procedure is very long...
ERRATA: USE="socks5".
what library is needed?
As stated in doc/README.SOCKS: Licq with socks5 support ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Download socks5-v1.0r??.tar.gz from www.socks.nec.com via the link "Socks5 reference implementation". Compile and install it manually, don't use any binary (rpm deb) because you need the header files and not just socks.h.
Any news?
licq-1.3.0-PRE doc/README There is now an alternative to using the NEC socks proxy, it is called Dante and is available at: http://www.inet.no/dante/
thanks for your patience - dante depend added in version 1.3_pre-r6.
still a few more problems - should be too much longer
