From eSpeak version 1.44 onwards, eSpeak calls the mbrola program directly, moreover, eSpeak looks for mbrola voices firstly in espeak-data/mbrola and then in /usr/share/mbrola.
To-date, the mbrola build installs voices under /opt/share/mbrola
It would be a nice enhancement to :
- Either install directly mbrola's voices under /usr/share/mbrola instead of /opt/share/mbrola
- Or Copy the voices under /usr/share/mbrola
- Or ideally give the option to do so via some use flag.

Does anyone know why mbrola is installed in /opt?

We now look for mbrola in /usr/share/mbrola.
Works for espeak.
