On many web pages, a lot of text is invisible in both the Browser view and the HTML Source View. It becomes visible on selecting it with the mouse (see screenshot to follow). In Bugzilla, the bug is http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=190278 and attributed to xft (with a patch included). I have freetype-2.1.4, and I am seeing the bug both with gentoo mozilla-1.5-r1 compiled myself and the mozilla 1.6a downloaded from www.mozilla.org. My font setting is Verdana 13pt as the Sans Serif font, and Lucida Console 12pt as the monospace font. freetype-2.1.5 seems to fix this - I can now see the page at the given URL correctly. Comparing with the screenshot of the bug, it appears that exactly those lines are missing that contain a German Character outside the ASCII range, namely
