Description norbert kamenicky 2010-11-19 20:38:51 UTC
If I open more tabs (usually 7+) I have a big problem to recognize active tab name, because if I look to tab bar I can see no difference ...

Yes, I know there are some differences like
- active tab is 1 pixel higher,
- tab name is written 1 pixel lower,
but, is there a guy who can recognize this fast ? (I need 1 minute.)
I have to use SHIFT+LEFT/RIGHT, which is annoying.

Reproducible: Always

Actual Results:
AFAIK all versions of konsole are affected by this bug.

Expected Results:
I wolud expect, active tab name is recognizable in miliseconds.

It can be done e.g. by yellow color background on active tab ...

(Firefox uses brighter background, which is IMO not the best,
but sufficient and muuuuch better than nothing.)

I count this to be major problem, because e.g. it's very easy to run non proper command on non proper (remote) server, if it's not clear, where am I connected.

How about picking another color theme or style, where the active tab is marked with a different background? Here it is...

No, that's not a solution you probably never worked remotely,
am I right?
Let say I am connected multiple times to the same server ...
if I use different background colors on different screens,
vim becomes unusable (because syntax highlighting doesn't
change automatically with changed background).
Nevertheless white on black is the only look I like.

Better give me an idea where and how to do it, I'll make a patch...
if Firefox tabs highliting can work properly, konsole must too !

Hi Andreas,

I appologize, I know, it's better to see once, than to read 100 times :-)

so please let have a look to my attached pictures ...

"konsole-buggy-tabs.png" is a screenshot taken from my desktop - all tabs are
the same color, therefore it takes me too much time to recognize active one

"konsole-tabs-Id-like-to-have.png" is an example, how it should look like

Guys this is not gentoo bug at all.

If you want something changed in KDE look&feel you need to report bug to kde guys (http://bugs.kde.org/)...

Note that they are quite quick in implementing such requests if it fits into their UX.
