I seem also emerged another system and there I have the exact same problem. GCC is completely broken, going back to gcc-3.2.3-r2 results in the following error: Created "Makefile" in /var/tmp/portage/gcc-3.2.3-r2/work/build using "mh-frag" and "mt-frag" gcc: installation problem, cannot exec `cc1': No such file or directory *** The command 'gcc -o conftest -march=pentium3 -pipe -O2 conftest.c' failed. *** You must set the environment variable CC to a working compiler. !!! ERROR: sys-devel/gcc-3.2.3-r2 failed. !!! Function src_compile, Line 341, Exitcode 1 !!! (no error message)
Marvin: the error messages provided don't tell alot of detail about the nature of the GCC error. If you know a little bit of C, try creating & compiling a simple "hello world" binary, and if GCC fails on it, post the errors messages from that failure here.
Reinstalled gcc-3.2.3-r2 via binary package. Needed server to be 100%.
