Description Sahil R Cooner 2003-11-27 18:45:08 UTC
my computer hangs when trying to initiate /etc/init.d/hotplug. I emerged to the latest one (hotplug-20030805-r2.ebuild).

I have absolutely no idea what is going on, but I have a feeling that there is indeed an error in the script as I have seen this before with dhcpcd.

Its prob when some or other module is loaded via hotplug. What kernel?
Anything interesting in the logs?

Yes, this happened to me when I migrated to 2.6 and inadvertently left a

 postinstall modprobe foo

in my aliases file. Since the module was already loaded by hotplug, it
hung trying to load it again (why it just doesn't error out with

FATAL: Module foo already in kernel.

I have no idea). Check your aliases file, your local.start, or anywhere
you may have had an extra "modprobe" in your startup scripts.
