Description Jim Dory 2010-11-12 03:41:24 UTC
trying to update world set on kde-4.5.3 on unstable(~) amd64 pulls in openslp-1.2.1-r1, which failed to compile. Error is: mismatch from required automake-1.8.3 no longer available on Gentoo with automake-1.8.5.

Not sure what is krfb, but it is pulling in openslp.

Reproducible: Always

Modified ebuild to use latest installed version of automake

Changed WANT_AUTOMAKE="1.8" to WANT_AUTOMAKE="latest".
Package now builds and installs without issue on a "~amd64" system.

Did anyone ever tell you people that you are the best? You're the best!
thanks, Jim

PS: that package was pulled in by set @kdenetwork and the krfb was something about desktop sharing.. for any casual observer..
Comment 6 Alexander Koryushkin 2010-11-18 08:52:47 UTC
same here, ~x86
Comment 7 filip 2010-11-18 18:46:42 UTC
Same error, same fix - also on ~amd64.
To me, this error surfaced when I had to revdep-rebuild after an upgrade. I realize WANT_AUTOMAKE="latest" can have unexpected consequenses down the line (eg if an incompatible automake 1.9 is released in the future), but if it isn't an ok fix to the problem - what is?
Comment 8 Matt 2010-11-20 23:32:36 UTC
this fixed it for me, too

currently installing a new system ~amd64

thanks !

Looking at the eutils.eclass WANT_AUTOMAKE="latest" is the default. I tested by connection out The line in my overlay and it compiled fine.
Comment 12 Robert Cabrera 2010-11-28 18:15:00 UTC
I had the same issue on my ~x86 laptop. Can confirm the modified ebuild works.
Comment 13 Marshall Banana 2010-11-30 03:28:17 UTC
stumbled upon this during an reemerge of @world after upgrading gcc on ~x86...

same error, fixed ebuild works just fine...
