Name: Naohiro Aota Email: naota@elisp.net IRC nick: naota Role: Gentoo/FreeBSD Naohiro has been helping out with Gentoo/FreeBSD (and we're uberunderstaffed), also he has participated in the 2010' GSoC on the Gentoo/DragonFlyBSD project. I'll be mentoring him and hwoarang has offered to co-mentor as well. Thanks, Javier.
I will be your recruiter. Please send your quizzes to recruiters@gentoo.org when approved by your mentor. Always add a comment to this bug when you send something to that address. When the quizzes are sent please contact me by IRC or email to schedule the first review session. If you think that recruiters aren't paying attention to this bug at any later point in time, it's your job to ping us on IRC if you don't want any delays. Betelgeuse is mentoring me on this so that we can get GSoC students set up a little faster. Please let me know if you have any questions.
I've sent my quizzes to the address.
Update: I've reviewed the first quiz with Naohiro, and we're working on scheduling a second review.
We've completed all my reviews (with some delay for me setting up this year's GSoC), and we're ready to arrange a final session w/ Betelgeuse to set you up as a Gentoo dev!

The quizzes looked good on my part. I sent Donnie the couple minor issues I found. During next week I am available for example Monday (tomorrow), Wednesday and Thursday between 13UTC and 20UTC.

Doc team, please reply this.
Hi Naohiro-san, it's usually Josh Saddler's job to coordinate the translators. Have you already talked to him? Given how swamped with work he recently is, I'm sure he is not going to mind if I answer here. Looking at your Bugzilla activity, I see you're already making contributions, that's great. I just wonder why they weren't handled by the Japanese GDP members, who are better quallified to check them for correctness and style than Josh, IMHO. Have you already completed your GDP quiz? It's a bit unclear to me what the status of the Japanese docs is (and the overview at [1] does not answer that, either). If there's a working team of developers, they should vouch for you and after they do so and you complete your GDP quiz, I see no problem with getting you a write access to the gentoo/xml/htdocs/doc/ja/. Please do not get me wrong here, I'm a translator myself and I perfectly understand how frustrating it could be to just wait for an account. The biggest reason for this slowdown and strict checking is that we love to maintaina reasonable quality for the docs, and when there's a new contributor, we prefer the already existing team to confirm that they're OK with your contributions. Naota-san has already joined Gentoo Japanese team and translated some documents. I'm sure of his activity as a translator and for Japanese doc maintenance. And as regards the status of the Japanese doc, I think I should make a Japanese doc team to maintain our documents properly.

Adding some more comments. Sindo-san is current active Japanese translation team, but doesn't have much time to contribute it recently. So I'm thinking to be a next translation team leader. I've already finished GDP quiz and I'm still waiting for the response for it...
(In reply to comment #13) > Naota-san has already joined Gentoo Japanese team and translated some > documents. > I'm sure of his activity as a translator and for Japanese doc maintenance. Hi Naoaki-san, the usual rule is that a new developer who wants to join the documentation team has to maintain a steady rate of contributions [1] and also has to pass the doc quiz [2]. Given that Naota-san is already a developer, I guess it makes sense to speed up things by not requiring a stream of changes from his way. I'll still want him to file the doc quiz, though; if he sends it before this Friday, I'll review it. (I'm going to be away for two weeks after that.) (In reply to comment #16) > Please forward a copy to me (jkt@g.o), I'll happily review it. Hi Naohiro-san, I got your quiz (and replied back this morning). Unfortunately, some answers were not completely correct, and therefore I can't give you an OK for GDP access yet. It's a pity I won't be available for the next two weeks. I've forwarded my comments to Josh in case he is able to handle you earlier. I hope you'll remain patient and that we can welcome you aboard in two weeks. Cheers, Jan
Naota-san, If you have any problem to fix your answer, Please let me know. Thank you, Shindo.
(In reply to comment #18) > Naota-san, > > If you have any problem to fix your answer, Please let me know. Actually, I've already sent revised version of the quiz answer to Jan and Josh... Jan, Would it be better to re-send my quiz answer?
Hi Naota-san, sorry for delay in processing your answers. As I said in the mail, there's still one missing bit. After you correct this one, you'll be completely ready from my point of view.
Dear recruiters, Naohiro-san has passed the GDP quiz. Please give him whatever access his Japanese translations need (I believe there's a group for docs translations in CVS, right?). He should be able to touch stuff in gentoo/xml/htdocs/{doc,proj}/ja/.

looks inactive or a long time
he returned, welcome back!
First mail sent.
Apparently there's commit activity in October. Apparently that's another developer who doesn't consider communicating with others relevant.
Commit activity again.
gentoo.git access disabled.
I see your commit access was returned, and some commits afterwards. However you still have plenty of outdated packages, and few bugs open. Consider dropping some packages to maintainer-needed status if you don't use them / can't maintain them. https://packages.gentoo.org/maintainer/naota@gentoo.org/outdated
We received a reply and I see activity in our ::gentoo tree. Welcome back!
