Description Dmitry Platonov 2003-11-27 00:09:40 UTC
http://www.ann.jussieu.fr/~hecht/freefem++.htm

FreeFem++ is an implementation of a language dedicated to the finite element
method. It provides you a way to solve Partial Differential Equations (PDE)
simply. Problems involving partial differential equations (pde) of several
branches of physics such as fluid-structure interactions require interpolations
of data on several meshes and their manipulation within one program. In this
report we build on a fast quadtree-based interpolation algorithm, propose a
language for the manipulation of data on multiple meshes (generated with bamg)
and test by designing an extension of freefem. and of freefem+. For more
detail see the manual .
FreeFem++ is written in a C++ idioms, this software run on all unix OS (with g++
2.95.2 or more and X11R6) , on Window95, 98, 2000, NT, and on MacOS 9 and X
(carbon version).

Reproducible: Always

I tried to reuse the existing ebuild for 2.21-1 without success.

ebuild for freefem++-2.18-1

I have written this ebuild for FreeFEM++, version 2.18-1. It works for me, but
it's not very well tested: I am not sure that freefem++ works also with
mpich2, but I could not test it. Also I am not really sure that passing
$(use_enable X) is enought if you want to build a non-X11 version of it.

Either find a maintainer, or if you want to maintain it yourself, feel free to reopen and join project sunrise, details here:

Thanks.

WONTFIX meanwhile.

(this is an automated message based on filtering criteria that matched this bug)

Hello, The Gentoo Team would like to firstly thank you for your ebuild
submission. We also apologize for not being able to accomendate you on a timely
manor. There are simply too many new packages.

Allow me to use this opportunity to introduce you to Gentoo Sunrise. The sunrise
overlay[1] is a overlay for Gentoo which we allow trusted users to commit to and
all users can have ebuilds reviewed by Gentoo devs for entry into the overlay.
So, the sunrise team is suggesting that you look into this and submit your
ebuild to the overlay where even *you* can commit to. =)

Because this is a mass message, we are also asking you to be patient with us. We
anticipate a large number of requests in a short time.

Thanks,
On behalf of the Gentoo Sunrise Team,
Jeremy.

sorry, I have refined my search to exclude 'overlay' in the summary.
Comment 15 Marek Szuba archtester gentoo-dev 2019-08-14 16:17:29 UTC
Version 3.8 is already in the science overlay. While it could use a version bump (upstream appears to be chugging along just fine, with the latest release - 4.2.1 - having only come out just over two months ago), it is beyond the scope of this ticket. Closing!
