Description Isaac Waldron 2010-11-10 15:01:19 UTC
snes9x-gtk consistently crashes when clicking either the Apply or OK buttons in the Options > Preferences dialog. This occurs regardless of whether I have changed any options or not. Clicking Cancel does not cause the crash.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open the Snes9x Preferences dialog using the Options > Preferences menu item.
2. Click OK.

Actual Results:
Program crashes and prints "Segmentation fault" to the console.

Expected Results:
Returned to the main Snes9x window after closing the preferences dialog.

Back trace

Recompiled snes9x after adding -ggdb to CFLAGS and generated this back trace.

works fine for me on stable x86.

Try doing

FEATURES=nostrip CFLAGS=-g CXXFLAGS=-g emerge -v snes9x

so you don't end up stripping the symbols from the binary.

FEATURES=splitdebug is on so what debug information is available is in the back trace. The items at the end of the trace are in /usr/lib32/libgobject-2.0.so.0 which belongs to app-emulation/emul-linux-x86-baselibs-20100915-r1. Since that's a binary package I don't think I can generate debug information for it.
Comment 4 Isaac Waldron 2010-11-13 21:12:40 UTC
Re-emerging with -xrandr seems to fix the problem. I am using nvidia-drivers ~amd64 (nvidia-drivers-256.53 is currently installed) so maybe this is related?

Someone reported this upstream: https://code.google.com/p/snes9x-gtk/issues/detail?id=61

 games-emulation/snes9x-1.52-r1 is gone.
