Description Stanislav Kogut 2010-11-09 22:00:10 UTC
Bugs happens (possibly) because of conflict when linking libsnmp.so with libcrypto
(as there is a warning while zabbix builds about it when net-snmp compiled with +ssl:
"/usr/lib/gcc/i686-pc-linux-gnu/4.4.5/../../../../i686-pc-linux-gnu/bin/ld: warning: libcrypto.so.0.9.8, needed by /usr//lib/libnetsnmp.so, may conflict with libcrypto.so.1.0.0"

Zabbix server works fine when net-snmp was compiled with -ssl, but fails to start when it was compiled with +ssl. Looks like there should be some dependencies added to avoid this situation.

Reproducible: Couldn't Reproduce

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Add ssl USE for net-snmp
1.1 Rebuild net-snmp
2. Add snmp USE for zabbix (i'm assume +server USE is present)
2.1 Build/rebuild zabbix
3. configure and start zabbix server with /etc/init.d/zabbix-server start. Possible it should have SNMP-monitored hosts configured, but I'm not sure.
4. look at it's log for results

Actual Results:
See attached zabbix-server.log

Expected Results:
Successfull startup of zabbix-server daemon

I think it is a bug in net-snmp, but i can't reproduce it without Zabbix, as snmpwalk works fine.

After net-snmp was rebuild with -ssl and then again with +ssl I can't reproduce this bug again, as zabbix-server works fine now.

There was a postinst message after openssl-1.0.0a-r3 upgrade, let me summarize it here:

# revdep-rebuild --library libcrypto.so.0.9.8
# revdep-rebuild --library libssl.so.0.9.8
# rm -f /usr/lib/libcrypto.so.0.9.8
# rm -f /usr/lib/libssl.so.0.9.8
