Can confirm this. Tried compiling on Athlon 64 3200+ and had the same errors.
This same error occurs on both the openoffice-1.1.0-r3 and openoffice-1.1.1-rc1 ebuilds.
Openoffice development branch reportedly will compile under amd64. If you REALLY want a 64-bit native OpenOffice, then download and compile the development snapshot. Otherwise, merge openoffice-bin like this: FATURES="-sandbox" emerge openoffice-bin
