Description Walter 2010-11-07 13:25:53 UTC
When adding unicode characters to LyX, which is apparently 100% unicode capable (see http://wiki.lyx.org/LyX/Unicode), export fails due to utf8-incapable default LaTeX options.

The ebuild should fix these using a USE flag or for systems that are obviously interested in Unicode support (eg: all locales are UTF8-based).

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Start lyx
2. Paste in some foreign characters, eg: Chinese, Japanese or Korean
3. Press the PDF processing button

Actual Results:
Extensive LaTeX errors.

Expected Results:
PDF views correctly with foreign characters, assuming the system has adequate fonts installed.

>LyX, which is apparently 100% unicode capable

but the latex engine behind is not. lyx currently do not support xetex directly and without manual tweaks what you want is impossible.

this might get better in upcoming versions of lyx, but for sure its wontfix in gentoo bugzilla.
