Description Maarten Wegewijs 2010-11-07 11:26:02 UTC
Starting up texmacs takes over 1 minute. After this it seems to run slow as well.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Start up texmacs
2.
3.

Actual Results:
I deleted my user settings (~/.TeXmacs) to be sure it is not related to borked user configuration.

Running texmacs --debug reveals that the step
Evaluating /usr/share/TeXmacs/progs/init-texmacs.scm...
is the one that takes over 1 minute, the rest is as fast as usual.

> texmacs -d
TeXmacs] Installing internal plug-ins...

TeXmacs] Creating 'no name' buffer...
TeXmacs] Try tfm ecrm10.tfm
TeXmacs] Evaluating /usr/share/TeXmacs/progs/init-buffer.scm...
TeXmacs] Starting event loop...

Expected Results:
The slow startup arose after upgrading from texmacs-1.0.7.6 which (like previous versions) ran without any problems and started up fast.

Texmacs use flags:
imlib jpeg netpbm spell svg -qt4
NOTE: I'm not using the qt version (the qt4 useflag is in fact disabled, one cannot even use it)

Yes. This is specific to 1.0.7.7, and related to searching for chinese fonts all over the filesystem. This has been fixed in the trunk. When the next version will be released, it will start faster.
