Better provide them directly here to not rely on external resources.

Comment 4 Pacho Ramos gentoo-dev 2010-11-07 17:55:30 UTC
This is caused by you running an old gcc. The problem is that even passing --enable-compile-warnings=no doesn't stop configure from passing -W* options :-/
Comment 5 Gilles Dartiguelongue (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2010-11-08 09:52:39 UTC
There is little change upstream would care about such an old gcc and so do I unless there is a really good reason to. Please explain why you are using an old gcc (an add your emerge --info).
Comment 6 Gilles Dartiguelongue (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2010-11-18 10:07:20 UTC
So, any reasons to use this old gcc when at least 4.3.4 is stable on all platforms (4.4.4 for hppa) ?
Comment 7 show3r 2010-11-18 18:02:35 UTC
what does that mean?

do i simple upgrade my old gcc and all works fine?
Comment 8 Gilles Dartiguelongue (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2010-11-18 18:06:39 UTC
you most likely already have a newer gcc on your machine you just have to select it and the problem will be gone.

To do that, check the output of:
# gcc-config -l
then select a more recent gcc (for example):
# gcc-config 2

This is all explained in gcc upgrade guide.

"WONTFIX" then?
Comment 10 Gilles Dartiguelongue (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2010-12-24 10:01:39 UTC
well since we didn't get any explanation for using 4.1 vs. any more recent gcc revision, closing wontfix.
