Description Robert Uhl 2010-11-06 15:06:24 UTC
I tried to compile gcc 3.x to be able to compile qemu.
emerge stops with the error message "emake failed with bootstrap-lean".

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. emerge -av =sys-devel/gcc-3.4.6-r2
Actual Results:
It compiles fine for some time, but then it stops with the error message.

Expected Results:
Compile whole gcc 3.x without errors.

A full build log with the actual error would be MUCH more useful.

Comment 4 Rafał Mużyło 2010-11-08 22:12:52 UTC
/var/tmp/portage/sys-devel/gcc-3.4.6-r2/work/gcc-3.4.6/gcc/gengenrtl.c:1: error: bad value (native) for -march= switch
/var/tmp/portage/sys-devel/gcc-3.4.6-r2/work/gcc-3.4.6/gcc/gengenrtl.c:1: error: bad value (native) for -mtune= switch

'-march=native' came much later than gcc-3.4
Set this to a value gcc 3.4 accepts.

...though isn't there a version of qemu that builds correctly with more recent gcc ?
